All you need to know before you schedule a lesson
Our tailored coaching programs focus on identifying the unique strengths and areas of improvement for each student. Through personalized strategies and supportive guidance, we help students develop effective study habits, organizational skills, and time management techniques. By improving executive functioning, we enable students to achieve their academic goals, boost their confidence, and prepare for future challenges.
At Hummingbird Success, we specialize in empowering students to enhance their executive functioning skills, thereby setting a strong foundation for lifelong success.
Short answer is...NO!
There is no contract to sign and ultimately our success is measured by implementing strategies and teaching habits to help you/your student manage their assignments independently.
Of course, this will look different for each student, so there is no magic number...but rather an earnest effort to move forward and maintain contact regarding progress.
Initially, onboarding will involve a questionnaire for parent and student, and a (preferably) in-person meeting to discuss your needs. This will be followed with a suggested plan to move forward, which we will discuss before implementing.
Going forward, tutoring sessions can be in-person or online, and may differ in length required. Once a student begins to feel successful at implementing strategies (which will be customized for each student), then the length and frequency of our meetings may be scaled down.
The cost will depend on the agreed upon plan, which can be changed and modified at any time to suit you/your student's needs.
Many years of teaching and working one-on-one with students has taught us that students are usually resistant because they may have a history of feeling less than successful in the classroom, and do not want to expose themselves to more feelings of distress. We completely understand this, and it is the reason why a caring and reliable tutor can make the world of difference. Building a relationship of trust is imperative. Our ultimate goal is for the student to believe in themself and their abilities.
Executive functioning refers to a set of cognitive processes that are essential for the control and regulation of behavior, particularly in relation to goal-directed activities and problem solving. These processes include skills such as planning, organizing, time management, working memory, and flexible thinking.
Executive functioning is crucial for academic success and personal development - both in the classroom, college and beyond. Many activities in school and college require these skills, however they are seldom explicitly taught.
